Shelia was born on April 10, 1954 in Dayton, Ohio. One of eight
children, she attended The Church of the Living God, the Pillar, Ground and
Truth, in Dayton, Ohio. Established in 1903, the church ranks as one of
the oldest black churches in Dayton. Shelia sang with her sister Arlicia,
Theresa, brother Ikey. They were known as "The Four Key's Singers" and
participated in both Christian Radio and Television programs. In addition,
they sang in churches throughout the Mid-west states.
As a teen Shelia attended college in Washington, D.C. on a basketball
scholarship. During her sophomore year, in 1974, she joined the Garden of
prayer Holiness Church, and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and
Savior. Soon, as she tarried on the alter before the lord, she was filled
with God's gift of the Holy Ghost. She sang God's praises to the congregation
and was inspired by God to reach out to those she met through her life in sports
to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
